My crazy husband asked me what I wanted for Valentine’s Day this year. My response was that it is very important that every year, I always get a Valentine. No matter what, I need to get the card. The card is what we girls live for each and every year. I felt that it was best to set the bar for the future and then if I get anything in addition to a card, then it is icing on the cake. Jason has given me great memories and gifts on Valentine’s Day for the past two years so I am pretty sure that he realizes that Valentine’s Day is important to me.
Let the gifting begin! My crazy husband in his infinite pursuit to always be ahead of the average guy sent me flowers at work a week and half early. Of course, I was thrilled. I loved the attention. I mean, who doesn’t love it when the guy from the mailroom shows up in your office doorway with a vase full of flowers and that little card that holds the secret to the mystery of…”Really – these are for me? I wonder who sent them”. Then your heart beats fast, you smile, open the card and feel absolutely loved because the card reads Love your husband. When I brought the flowers home at the end of the week, Jason asked “What did the card read”? I showed him the card and he said that the card was all wrong. It should read Love, Your Husband not Love your husband. “That card reads like it is telling you to love your husband. It is all wrong. How come the vase isn’t red. It was supposed to be red”!
It really didn’t matter to me what color the vase was or how the words read on the card. I knew what it meant and I appreciated it all.
When the 14th of February came, I got my Valentine and a gift card and a romantic double date with our good friends at a fancy shmancy Chinese restaurant. Too bad that apple martini I had nearly put me under the table!
I recovered just in time for bed!!!!!
